Ya, your situation was unique. Your dad was (still is??) quite fanatical about the whole JW thing. It's amazing you survived!! I'll never forget the time they went on vacation and didn't allow you to go. Instead they locked you out of the house to survive on the street! Great example for other JW parents!! (no offense intended!)

I definitely do not belittle those who have been out for decades and still are involved in JW related discussions. Every person must deal with the trauma of the WT in their own way. I guess my point is that, as long as we are discussing it on a regular basis, we are not really "free" of it. For me personally, I know the day will come (like I mentioned earlier) that I will be truly "free". When that time comes, I will never speak of this again.
I wonder though, if there are some deep seated resentment issues that some (maybe myself included) need to deal with. No one can argue as to why there would be resentment. Only a fool would not understand the causes. But I can't help but wonder if re-hashing the same old issues (1914, 607, 1925, blood, UN etc) is helping us "old-timers". I seldom read those posts since, frankly, I find them quite boring. Maybe some need re-assurance that they did the right thing in leaving the JW's?? I don't.

Can you see yourself posting to sites like this in 20 years? Don't get me wrong, I'm definitely not disparaging this site. It is an extremely important tool in the evolution to freedom of those who leave the cult. But doesn't a person have to finally have some closure and get on with there life?

That's 39 years ago! Why do you still care about this stuff? Do you have family still in?
I've been out for less than 10 years, and it's only because of my parents that I still give a s**t about this JW cult. I did the fade, but if they do DA me in this upcoming witch hunt, and if my elderly parents shun me, than I'm done with it. I can't possible picture myself beating this dead horse 30 years from now. And if they don't DA me, once my parents pass away, I will be done with this, once and for all. Either way, you will never see me here again.
Please don't be offended. I'm just curious as to why you and others who have been out for 20, 30, 40 and more years still feel they need to talk about this. I have a friend who was DA'd this year, and he never talks about this stuff. He couldn't care less, and he has sisters in it still.
Lady Lee says she has been out for 18 years and "been free ever sense". But is anybody who still comes to sites like this (myself included obviously) really free? Especially after all those years?

i don't have any children by this man but have 3 from a previous marriage.
Personally, I think you have to decide what is best for your children first, then yourself. Seeking the opinion of strangers on the internet may not be the best way to base such a big decision as this. Only you know and fully understand the depth of your situation, and only you can find the correct resolution. (I speak from experience)
Now all seriousness aside...
BTW, didn't the NASCAR stuff tip you off that this guy is a big kid? Where I come from, people who are obsessed with NASCAR are viewed as "rednecks".
